How to extract palm kernel oil from palm kernel?

The traditional method to extract palm kernel oil is to fry palm kernels in old oil or simply heat the dried palm nuts. Then, the fried palm kernels are pounded or ground to a paste in a motorised grinder. The paste is mixed with a small quantity of water and heated to extract the palm kernel oil.

The industrial methods to extract palm kernel oil have two kinds:

One is full press extraction where mechanical screw oil press machines are used to extract palm kernel oil out by squeezing under high pressure. This palm kernel oil extraction method is mainly used by small and big capacity palm kernel oil expeller machine.

The other method is solvent extraction with hexane, where a solvent is mixed with the material to extract palm kernel oil. This palm kernel oil extracting method, however, is generally used by larger capacity palm kernel oil mill plant.
